2017 was an incredible year for make-up. With experimental liners, bold colours and fresh-faced beauties, it was a year full of fabulous trends sweeping the industry. S/S 2017 showed us that it wasn’t just about that au naturel glow; the stand out looks were sleeker, brighter and bolder than ever before. Then A/W brought us sharper, deeper and more confident vibes whilst still sporting that winning ‘no make up’, barely there look. Let’s look back over the last year at some of the best and most inspiring trends.

‘No Make Up’ Make Up

Having its moment all over again was the ‘no make up look’. This year, strobing took over highlighting and skin worked the clean, athletic look on to the catwalk. Michael Kors and Givenchy took the fresh-faced look to whole new levels. The glowing, lit from within look can be easily recreated using our versatile Glow Sticks.

Graphic Pops Of Colour

Flashes of the Eighties showed us their playful charm and came into their element at shows such as Louis Vuitton and Kenzo. Pastel hues and graphic lines dominated through the trends at many different fashion shows, showing a very impressive bold and energetic twist. Graphic bold lines continued into autumn winter giving stronger and sharper looks.

The New Smokey Eye

The coveted smokey eye was given a subtle, smudgey makeover. Balmain showed us how to work the ‘lived in’ look whereas Ellie Saab kept it strictly soft and winged. Using a super soft and blendable Kajal is a great way of recreating this look.

Lived In Berry Lips

Autumn/Winter also saw a deeper, fiercely cool feel. Stained blood red lips were a staple trend at Giambattista Valli and La Perla. This time the skin was clean and perfect and the eyes were kept minimal, leaving patchy berry lips as the focus.

Metallic Eyes

Eyes continued to be the centre of attention, yet this time with a metallic feel to add texture and variation to the classic smokey eye. Copper, rose and sliver hues dominated through the catwalks, some showcasing a delicate sweep on the lid whilst others modelled a more powerful feel.

2017 saw some amazing and innovative beauty trends – we can’t wait to see what 2018 brings!
